Brass is an alloy containing copper and zinc and is very malleable and coupled with a high tensile strength it is a very popular choice across many different applications.
Its distinctive yellow/gold colour makes brass a favourite for products which require a decorative finish. Many components which were formerly produced in steel have since been changed over to brass, which saves cost in machining time whilst not compromising on the strength of the product.
By adding other elements such as aluminium, iron, manganese and silicon to the alloy mixture adds strength and hardness, whilst a controlled amount of Lead makes Brass easier to machine.
